Tilly: 'We know it's not been a great season'

Blues boss Steve Tilson is hopefull that tonight's reduction in prices will see a boost to the attendance that will have Roots Hall rocking to the sound of passionate fans getting behind their team.

It certainly represents 'last saloon time' with maximum points needed in the next two home games to give the Essex boys the best chance to escape the dreaded drop zone.

Tilly spoke to www.southendunited.co.uk: "It's going to be a difficult game against Brentford but the players will give it their all and hopefully the fans can sing from start to finish. We know it's not been a great season so far but together we might just pull it off."

He's also well aware that the Bees are on fine form at the moment with the West London side on a seven match unbeaten run.

Tilly continued: "Brentford have had a great season since their promotion and Andy Scott has done a good job there. However, our final three home games were always going to be important so it's vital we get a result."

Brentford's manager Andy Scott

Scott: 'You forget about tiredness when you're performing well '

Meanwhile, Bees boss Andy Scott is basking in the glow of last Saturday's 3-0 demolition of Huddersfield Town, knowing that one season since their return League One football is secured for the Griffin Park club.

Scott told www.stainesnews.co.uk: "Our desire matched our football. That 90 minutes was most complete performance since I've been in charge. It's been a massive effort, especially with run of games and injuries we've had. But you forget about tiredness when you're performing well and winning games. The last 10-12 games we've been getting better and better. We're a force to be reckoned with."
