Tilly: 'The lads stuck together'

Blues boss Steve Tilson spoke to www.southendunited.co.uk: "We didn't seem to get a decision all afternoon and it was a poor performance from the referee. Jeff (Christophe) said he got caught by their player but the referee has opted to send him off for diving and I don't know how that wasn't a penalty when Franck got fouled. In truth the decisions cost us the game and their second goal shouldn't have been allowed either. The lads stuck together though and we played well. In fact I don't really know how we are returning home without at least a point - it's very disappointing."

Wilson: 'We should have used the ball better'

Robins boss Danny Wilson spoke to the media after the game: "I think that as the game went on Southend had a bit more hope, but we didn't defend that well at all. We warned the players what could happen in the second half and not let the work ethic go. Southend had a fair shout for a penalty and we got away with that one. A lot of circumstances went on in the game today but thankfully we came away with the three points. It's the end of a hard week for us, but when you look at it we should have used the ball better. We allowed Southend to get on top of it because when we had the ball we didn't use it. Southend had some experienced players out there and they didn't make it easy for the new lads at all."
