Tilson: 'We have to go out and get results'

Blues boss Steve Tilson must be sick to death of speaking to the media after yet another defeat, the fourth in a row, as Southend still seek their first win of 2010, and next week face fellow strugglers Exeter City without at least two of their central midfield.

However, as the Shrimpers sink into the bottom four for the first time this season Tilly felt three-nil was tough.

He spoke to www.southendunited.co.uk after the game: "I thought it was an even game and we had as many chances as them. Hartlepool took theirs and that was the difference. I thought we looked comfortable in the second half, but the first two goals we conceded were poor defensively from us."

And falling into the dreaded drop zone?

Tilly concluded: 'Being in the bottom four of the table doesn't change anything, as we have to go out and get results, it's as simple as that."

Turner: 'It's scoring goals at home that gives fans a lift'

Pools 'Director of Sport' Chris Turner is pleased to see a six point gap opening up between the Monkey Hangers and the relegation places.

Turner spoke to www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk: "It was a very important win for obvious reasons. I thought the three goals were all excellent finishes from Roy - he has brought a new dimension to the team; his work ethic has been superb. Some of our best performances this season have been away but it's scoring goals at home that give the fans a lift and seven in two games here is great for us."
