Sadly, the last time we dig out this old photo
Here at S24 we've been so busy as new manager Paul Sturrock has rung in the changes and the club has faced yet another date with the High Court, that the man whose seven year spell at Roots Hall brought so much success has hardly had a look in.
For that we apologise, Uncle Ron's PR machine should never be underestimated, and the Echo's Chris Phillips has caught up with Steve Tilson and his interview with him is in today's edition.
Below is just a quote but it's good to hear he's aware of the appreciation that the vast majority of the Shrimpers faithful have given him.
For many he was in charge of the side that gave them their greatest moments while following the club and Tilly himself has obviously been overwhelmed by the response.
Tilly told www.echo-news.co.uk: "I would like to thank everyone that has sent in their thoughts, either good or bad. I have read the letters in the Echo, I've seen the comments on the Shrimperzone website and for the first time in my life I've also been on Facebook. The support really does mean a lot to me."
A Gentleman even at the end.
The full interview will be printed in Friday's Evening Echo but S24 will keep the article updated for our exiled readers if anything more comes out.
S24's tribute to Steve Tilson will be posted shortly.
