McCormack was at Southend previously in 2005 when he helped in gaining promotion from League 2.

Unfortunately though he was unable to see the job through, as he was recalled by Preston North End boss at the time Billy Davies.

However, the 22 year old midfielder yesterday handed in a hand written transfer request. And Tilson has admitted that they news certainly caught his eye.

Tilly told the official site: “Alan is the type of character that you need about the building when the chips are down” he went onto say “He can be a little tiger for you in midfield and I am sure he could do a job for us”

Tilson also admitted that McCormack wasn't the only player he was looking at, but with the deadline for loans being 5pm next Thursday. Time is not on Steve Tilson's side.

“We've a number of people in mind and he is one of three we are certainly considering bringing into the football club”

But Tilly is hopeful of bringing two or three players into the club, he told the official site;

“We know who we are after it is just whether or not we can get them”
