Tilly: 'Oldham was the worst I have seen us play this season'

Blues boss Steve Tilson spoke to www.southendunited.co.uk: "Tonight is a chance for us to bounce back quickly following Saturday's performance. We weren't at the races then and it was the worst I have seen us play this season so I am looking for a reaction."

As for to-night's opponents: "Brentford came up last season and have acclimatised well to the division. They have some good players and if we peform like we did against Oldham we will get beaten. But we want to put that result behing us now, and there is no better way than by hopefully getting three points."

Scott: 'We've got to work harder and press teams'

Meanwhile, Bees boss Andy Scott needs to find that winning formula again as it's now seven games since the club's last victory against Norwich.

He told the Ealing Gazette: "Myself and the rest of the staff will be doing exactly the same and we'll make sure that we do things better on Tuesday. Three weeks ago when we got a good result at Huddersfield and played reasonably well at Charlton, everyone was saying what a good side we were. But to be a good side you've got to do it consistently."

Scott will certainly want an improvement after Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Yeovil.

The Brentford manager continued: "They have been told in no uncertain terms that it is going to be a long hard season if we continue to approach games in the manner of last weekend. We've got to do a lot better than we did then. You can talk about tactics, chances etc but we've got to work harder and press teams. That is how we got promoted."
