Tilson: '15 games left now, but it's still in our own hands'; Robinson: 'It's a win'

Tilson: 'We were certainly the better team in the first half'

Blues boss Steve Tilson was once again happy with his teams performance but not their unfortunate habit of conceding goals and not scoring them at the other end.

One may say that the latter is intertwined with the former but anyway......

Speaking to www.southendunited.co.uk Tilly said: "I thought we played ever so well. We had four or five chances in the first half and should have gone into the break ahead. We were certainly the better team in the first half, but the goal so quickly from after half time killed us."

Same old song Tilly, but just in case we didn't get the point, he continued on the theme.

He said: "Their first goal came from our corner and the second when we failed to deal with a cross, but we had some unbelievable chances. We need to start putting them away and stop conceding at the other end. There are 15 games left now, but it is still in our own hands."

Robinson: 'With a new back four there is always going to be gaps to expolit'

Meanwhile, Dons assistant boss Karl Robinson was pleased his side got last weekends five goal reverse at Carlisle out of their system so quickly, especially for the supporters that travelled the long distance to Cumbria to witness it.

Robinson told www.mkdons.com: "We felt we let the fans down last week, it wasn't acceptable and you could see that by the way the players responded today. It's a win and any sort of win is better than what we got last Saturday so we're more than pleased. The fans are magnificent, they love this football club and we're no different, we all want to see the same progress."

Fair enough, though it's hard to spot the 'magnificent' fans, certainly hear them, as so many tiers in their admittedly superb stadium remained empty, Uncle Ron be warned on a smaller scale at the 20,000 FF.

However, the man who is deputy to Paul Ince did accept that the Franchise defence was struggling at times due to the Shrimpers inventive attacking play.

He conluded: "When you play a new back four alongside each other there is always going to be gaps to expolit, but they're only going to get better as a back four."
