Tilson: 'We've been talking to Franck for a while now'

Following on from Johnny Herd's contract being extended for another year Tilly has confirmed that the club are continuing contract talks with Franck Moussa, while starting to chat to Damian Scannell and Scott Spencer.

The Moose is the big prize with plenty of rumours now circulating that he's unhappy with the situation at Roots Hall.

S24 has heard nothing to lead us in that direction and hopefully enough can be put on the table to make Franck believe it's worth his while to at least give it a real go to get us out of League Two at the first attempt. He's that good.

The Blues faithful will also be hoping winger Damien Scannell can be convinced that his immediate future remains at Roots Hall, we started to see glimses of his exciting potential during the second half of the season, and he could tear fourth tier full backs apart.

As for Screech, well, he wasn't bad for a guy dropped by Rochdale, though we have swapped divisions now!

Always full of running, his well taken goals at Huddersfield and Bristol Rovers also showed that by dropping down a level Scott could make a vital contribution to a promotion push. And he'll be cheap!

Tilly told www.southendunited.co.uk: "We've been talking to Franck for a while now and we've now also started discussions with the agents of Damian and Scott. We would obviously like to keep them with us for longer but Johnny will definitely be here as we've taken up the year's option we had on him."

No rush for poor Osei Sankofa then, but I'm sure he'll stay on, though news that Wycombe have released Lewis Hunt may be of interest to the Blues boss.

Matty Harrold was on the list as well, but maybe we'll pass.
