SHRIMPERS
So this is it, we face the final curtain, though most would agree, certainly Ron, that it's been closed all ready.
For everyone going I hope the lads put on a decent show and return with three points which may keep the fun going for another week, but it would tale a massive turnaround in form.
For all the good things being said I'm just not sure their herats are in it, and yto be honest who can blame them.
Still, we at S24 are preparing the Pub Crawls for next season, and whatever happens Saturday will have a few after the Stockport game next week, and then their's the Saints to look forward to.
Let's hope the weather stays fair.
COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!!
Possible Southend United: Mildenhall, Francis, Baldwin, Barrett, Herd, Grant, McCormack, Christophe, Laurent, Vernon, Moussa.
Subs: Jack, Sankofa, M'Voto, O'Keefe, Malone, Patterson, Crawford.
OPPOSITION
Last Time Out - Southampton 0 Oldham Athletic 0 (played on Tuesday, April 20th.)
Oldham moved a huge step closer to League One safety after producing a brave defensive performance to hold play-off chasing Southampton to a draw.
With both sides having played four games in ten day it made for a lethargic first half and Southampton had the first, and what turned out to be only shot on target, on ten minutes.
Top-scorer Rickie Lambert tried to beat Darryl Flahavan with a 30-yard free kick, but the Oldham goalkeeper was able to make a comfortable save to his left.
Oldham were defending stoutly, restricting the home side to attempting impossible long-range efforts.
Southampton did manage to craft a chance on the half hour as Lambert cushioned a header into the path of Dean Hammond but the midfielder's attempted flick over Flahavan was too delicate and landed in the keeper's arms.
Oldham continued to defend manfully after the break but had a rare sight of the Southampton goal when Alex Marrow robbed Lloyd James on the centre circle.
Marrow fed Pawel Abbott and his inside pass was just inches away from opening a shooting chance for Lewis Guy only for Dan Seaborne to make a fine last-ditch challenge.
Frustrated Saints were struggling to break down Dave Penney's side and Oldham were unlucky not to take the lead on 70 minutes when Kelvin Davis denied substitute Tom Eaves and then kept out Marrow's rebound effort.
Southampton could have stolen the points in the third minute of stoppage time when substitute Papa Waigo somehow failed to convert Lambert's low cross.

Keeper Darryl Flahaven should start against his former club.
Latics Boss Dave Penney has a full squad to pick from yet Latics midfielders Dale Stephens and Danny Whitaker may be recalled after being rested for the goalless draw at Southampton in midweek.
For that game Alex Marrow and Jon Worthington took their place.
Oldham are unbeaten in four games and are sitting a very comfortable seven points clear of the League One bottom four with three games remaining.

GROUND
The ground at the moment is comprised of just three sides as the Club had planned on the building of a new stand on the Broadway side of the stadium, but this has been shelved as the Latics look to moving to a new site altogether.
At one end is the comparatively new Rochdale Road End, a good sized all seater covered stand with an excellent view of the pitch. It has windshields to either side of it and an electric scoreboard on its roof. Part of this stand is given to away supporters.
The other end, the Chadderton Road Stand (also known as the 'Chaddy End'), is a medium sized all seater covered stand. Again there are windshields to either side, but the elderly nature of this stand is apparent from the supporting pillars running across the front of it.
On one side there is an old two tiered Main Stand. This used to have terracing in front, since filled with seating. There is still some old unused terracing on one side of this stand.
Opposite is currently a building site as a new stand is being constructed. The ground also benefits from four large floodlight pylons, leaving the visitor in no doubt that this is a football ground.
The Club has a mascot called 'Chaddy The Champion Owl'!
Away fans are housed in the Rochdale Road Stand at one end of the ground. This stand is split between a larger section on side, which houses 3,000 fans and a smaller section on the other side which houses 1,600 supporters.
The smaller area will be allocated to Shrimpers. The sections are kept separate by a large moat like gap, which certainly makes for a lot of banter? The facilities in this newish stand are fairly good, as are the acoustics.

HISTORY
Pine Villa Football Club was formed in 1895, though the club changed its appearance and name in 1899 to Oldham Athletic Football Club. The club immediately gained professional status and played in both the Lancashire Combination and Lancashire League.
Unlike many clubs, Oldham gained quick success and gained acceptance into the Football League in 1907-08. After three years in the Second Division the Latics gained promotion to the First Division.
Unlike many clubs, Oldham gained quick success and gained acceptance into the Football League in 1907-08. After three years in the Second Division the Latics gained promotion to the First Division.
The current limited company was formed after several months in administration in 2003-04 .On 3 February 2004, the club's immediate future was secured when a group of American-based expatriate British businessmen led by Simon Blitz bought the club, forming Oldham Athletic (2004) Association Football Club Limited.
After two years with the club, manager John Sheridan was sacked on March 15th 2009, immediately being replaced by former manager Joe Royle. After being offered the job on a permanent basis, Royle rejected the offer and announced that he would be leaving the club after the final game of the season.
Darlington boss Dave Penney was announced as Royle's successor on April 30th 2009, though Royle did remain in charge until the season's end.
