Newman's men face a tough start.
It's a tough start for Rob Newman's men as the Shrimpers open their 2002/2003 campaign with a tricky looking fixture against Hull City at Boothferry Park, a fixture which is probably made even more frustrating by the fact that United miss out on a trip to Hull's new 25,000 seater Kingston Community Stadium, which is due to be occupied in November following the departure from ramshackle Boothferry. On the other hand it looks likely that United weill be Darlington's first opponents at the Quakers new Neasham Road ground when we visit the North East on November 30th.

Two home fixtures, a Tuesday encounter with Carlisle United and a Saturday afternoon date with Shrewsbury Town follow the opening day, whilst it's a trip to Devon to play Exeter City on the final day.
