The Chairman Strikes Back: 'The players are professional and remain focused on winning games'

Ron Martin - has decided to

Martin: 'Blues supporters are not stupid'. Thanks Ron.

Just when you thought you could concentrate back on the game Uncle Ron decides to move off our belagured PM and go back to his favourite blood sport, Echo baiting.

It seems our devious local paper e-mailed some questions to our beloved Chairman who responded to them all, and they never printed them. The bastards!

Well, Ron's not having any of that, he's used the official site to release to the world what we should have heard and not what Chris Phillips decided to print.
I don't know about you, but I really can't wait till the kick-off Saturday and see how long it takes Macca to get a yellow card after two games away, I mean that's what football's all about.

Anyway, click onto the link below and hear Ron explain that he's not bothered at all by all of this, not much Ron, that the players 'remain professional', as long as there getting paid of course, or else their amateurs, and that we're 'not stupid'! I wonder sometimes.

I am with him when he talks of 'dramatic inflammatory terms' used by the Taxmen when describing the club as 'habitual defaulters' in court. They could have been less heavy handed about all of this, the good Southend United does for the community has been shown this week and S24 will return to that later.

And he's got a point that if we did go into administration, HMRC 'rarely receive anything'.

However, as usual with these statements, there's the feeling Ron's been economical with the facts. There's more to know. Why is the Trust not allowed to nominate a board member now when they've coughed up the dosh?

Still, the players will be feeling OK. The Southend supremo has 'reassured them'.

As long as that reassurance pays next month's mortgage.
