Terriers to join chase for Clarke?

After the Charlton Echo rumour on Friday the Shrimperzone message board has carried a post from Terriers fan Skinner05 that: "We are supposed to be after Clarke as well as we look to add a bit of muscle and aggression to the side."

While a 'source close to Huddersfield' says: "The club are fully aware that Peter is available on a free transfer and they are certainly interested in signing him."

Not exactly his signature on the dotted line, then again the Echo's 'insider' hardly has Clarkey off to South London.

Well, we have to report it and someone may get lucky eventually!

The West Yorkshire club certainly ticks the Northern box and unlike Charlton they have a new but settled manager in Lee Clarke, more settled than Phil Parkinson anyway, given a big budget to make them serious promotion candidates this time around.

They grabbed mid-field battler Anthony Kay from Tranmere where, like Clarke, he was available on a free transfer. Town are also reported to have doubled his wages, something that will bring a sparkle to the Southend defenders agent!

With Huddersfield season-ticket sales set to smash through the 10,000 barrier they have money in the bank making chief executive Nigel Clibbens a happy guy: "We're working flat out to create a club our supporters will be proud of. We're absolutely delighted by the level of sales and see it as a clear message that the supporters are buying into what we're trying to do here."

Again, as with theCharlton story, no official comment at the moment, but wouldn't be surprised if we hear more on this one.
