Sturrock: 'With the ability we have I think we'll now start climbing the league'

Southend manager Paul Sturrock felt the 2-1 win over the previously 100% winning Gulls yesterday was their best performance yet in front of the Blues faithful who saw two quality strikes by Anthony Grant and Josh Simpson.

He's hoping that with fitness levels improving with every game the continuing rise up the league table is something we can expect to continue.

Luggy told www.southendunited.co.uk: "The first half is probably the best we've played here. It was important we got off the mark here at Roots Hall otherwise it might have turned into a nightmare for us. People are now starting to see we aren't going to be easy meat. With the ability we have in the team I think we will now start climbing the league."
