Sturrock: 'I don't want to look at the run'
Blues boss Paul Sturrock is not one for statistics, even if the Shrimpers unbeaten run has now reached 16 games since the 2-0 loss at Swindon Town back in early September, this following the 1-1 home draw with Bristol Rovers Saturday which still saw them remain top of the fourth tier table.
Southend now face a tough little period of games with League One Oldham in the second round of the FA Cup next weekend; Swindon in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy southern semi-final the following Tuesday; before travelling to third place Cheltenham on Saturday, December 10th!
Sturrock told BBC Essex: "I don't want to look at the run. We've got two cup ties coming up. Yes, it is a great run we're on but I still want to be in these two trophies after the next two games. They're both at home and I want to work on things in these two games as well that might benefit us in the league. We're not going to win every football game. We've known that for however long the run has been going. A high percentage of the players that have been playing regularly will get Monday off. The rest will do them the world of good."
