Sturrock: 'We're only inches away from turning things around'

Blues boss Paul Sturrock is insisting his team have not lost form after two successive defeats have seen them drop close to the bottom two.

Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk: "We have naivety which is costing us dear but there was some good stuff played from us in the last two games so there were some positives there too. There's a fine line between winning and losing and we could quite easily have won our last two matches. We were competitive despite not being at our best and lost by one goal. We're only inches away from turning things around and being a very, very good team.

And he insists it's far too early for the Blues faithful to get too critical.

Luggy continued: "We're not here to be over critical seven games in to a season but we have to start winning games. We don't want the gap to big too big and come January we want to be competitive and take things from there but the only way we can do that is to get points on board."

Davey: Calling for common sense

Davey: 'We just have to make sure that we are a bit more sensible'

Meanwhile, Bulls boss Simon Davey has called for his team to be more sensible in the tackle and avoid anymore red cards after playing the final 20 minutes with 10 men against Bury after Kenny Lunt was sent off for a second yellow card, and then conceded a 93rd-minute equaliser!

Davey told www.herefordtimes.com: "I'm not going to stop my players tackling. We just have to make sure that we are a bit more sensible and professional - Kenny Lunt on Saturday, on a booking, went sliding into a tackle and if you mis-time it then you're off. Unfortunately, he mis-timed it, that's what has cost us and we have to make sure that it does not happen too often."
