Sturrock: New Shrimpers boss

Sturrock: 'Didn't want to get caught out by not having the body count'

The Southend manager Paul Sturrock knows his side are going to have to play very well to get anything against a team unbeaten since moving into their new stadium this season while moving into second place in the league.

The Spireites were unlucky to lose on penalties to Sheffield Wednesday in the JPT this week and came back to earn a point in the extraordinary 5-5 draw last Saturday after being 3-0 down after only 13 minutes!

This will not be an easy trip!

Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk: "Chesterfield will be a very difficult opposition to play against. It was a zany game last week when they had a 5-5 draw with Crewe and I think you can write that one off. But they did score five goals which is worrying aspect of it all. We have a difficult month so it is vital that we put three points on the board."

Luggy confirmed that centre-back Bilel Mohsni, sent off at Barnet on Tuesday, has been disciplined internally, while confirming that strikers Barry Corr and son Blair are major doubts.

It's looking good for loanee forward from Doncaster, young Waide Fairhurst, will make his debut.

Sturrock continued: "Waide has come highly recommended and we have seen him on the TV a couple of weeks ago. We have had him watched also and we feel at the moment with the knocks Barry and Blair have and the games we have coming up we didn't want to get caught out in anyway by not having the body count."

Crossley: 'Paul Sturrock's a wise man'

Meanwhile, Spireites player/coach Mark Crossley accepts he doesn't know which Shrimpers side will turn up!

Don't worry Mark, nor do we!

Crossley told www.chesterfield-fc.co.uk: "Southend are a bit unpredictable they have come through financial problems but they are on a good run at the moment. Paul Sturrock's a wise man so we have to be careful and prepare properly and start better than we did against Crewe. We started poorly last Saturday and they caught us napping early on. But that comeback proves we have a good fighting spirit."
