Sturrock: Looking on the bright side

Sturrock: 'We need to bring in some other signings'

Blues boss Paul Sturrock accepted his side were second best at Roots Hall Monday afternoon after the 1-1 draw with the Daggers who equalised the home sides's first half opener with an equaliser three minutes from the end.

Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk:  “We got a point but we didn''t deserve anything. We were poor and it''s very difficult to win when you play like that. I think maybe the players thought that after winning at AFC Wimbledon they just had to turn up to win and it''s very disappointing. There was only one team out there who deserved to win and it wasn''t us.”

Well, you can't say it as straight as that, and though though he felt new signing Elliot Benyon made a promising debut, new signings will still need to be made.

Sturrock said: “I thought Elliot did OK, especially as he hasn''t been playing lately. He's still finding his feet here and it was hard for him to come in and play in a team that wasn't playing well. He showed some good signs but we need to bring in some other signings.”

I don't think any of the faithful would argue with that!
