Sturrock: 'Gilbert should be fine for Friday at Salisbury'

Not a bad day at the office then for Paul Sturrock after all that's been going on, but he's not resting on any laurels after one resonably good showing, he wants even more players.

The Martin war chest is being stretched!

Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk: "We definitely want to add bodies to the squad because we do not have enough at the moment."

This was brought to the surface when left-back Peter Gilbert limped off after 51 minutes, but at least in this position we have a very capable replacement in Johnny Herd, who even after everybody leaving still found hiomself back on the bench, keep smiling Johnny!

Sturrock commented: "Gilbert has a thigh strain and went over on an ankle but he should be fine for Friday."

When we travel to assistant boss Tommy Widdrington's old club, Salisbury City.
