Nathaniel Jarvis; never started for the Shrimpers

After seven substitute appearances for Southend and the odd reserve game, Nathaniel Jarvis never made a starting debut for the first team and his month deal expired after Saturday's latest defeat at Bury, where he missed a decent chance to equalise late on.

Most of the Blues faithful didn't see enough of the youngster, there's no doubting Nathaniel has pace, to be sure of his proper worth, however with Shrimpers manager Paul Sturrock saying that he's gone over budget as he searches for new players it's no surprise that Jarvis was deemed surplus to requirements.

The club still needs some experience up front if they can find it, so the search starts again, with Waide Fairhurst, on loan from Doncaster, the next that will probably return to his parent club.

Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk earlier: "I will be weighing up my options with Nathaniel. He has got something and does get chances when he comes on but not one of them have nestled in the net yet. I will think things through and soon be making a decision."

Well, whatever he did have was not enough for Luggy as we wish Nathaniel the best of luck for the future.
