Sturrock: Wants players to shape-up

Sturrock: 'Very,very disappointing'

Blues boss Paul Sturrock wanted to get away as quickly as possible after a game which must have been a huge personal blow to him as a former manager at the County Ground, however he was grabbed by the Press Association to say a few words about the match.

Sturrock told the PA: "Some players will have played their last game for a very long time for Southend after that performance. It was very, very disappointing and sometimes you can win when eight players are on form and three perform badly, but here it was the other way around. There's no thought process going on out there and that is why we have conceded four goals in our last two games. Swindon were hungrier and more professional and that is simply not acceptable."

Short and sweet, but who were the terrible three?

We shall find out in a couple of days with a midweek game against
Gillingham to come, but maybe Luggy spoke in haste before he's had time to calm down.

Anyway, he's not messing around as Echoman Chris Phillips has tweeted Sunday morning that: 'Sturrock had the team in for extra training today and also gave them a rollicking for an hour before they started.'

Tuesday could be an interesting evening!

Di Canio: Abdulla says boss will get results

Di Canio: 'The lads feel more confident in the way we play'

Meanwhile, Robins boss Paolo Di Canio was in a far happier mood.

Di Canio told www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk: "It was absolutely crucial because to win two games after a difficult start to the season is always important. The lads feel more confident in the way we play. After what has happened the last few weeks you can see straight away the change in atmosphere around the dressing room. You can see that they are more united and they know each other well because before they were too shy. Obviously nothing is done yet because we are only in the middle of the table, but two wins in a row is better than losing.”

It certainly is and they have a big test away to Crawley under the lights on Tuesday evening, but things could certainly have turned around for the Italain and his team as the season moves on.
