Sturrock: Happy with team's form

Sturrock: 'I think they’re a different Barnet side to the one last season'

Blues boss Paul Sturrock is well aware of the threat bottom two Barnet can pose to his side Tuesday evening, especially up front with the tricky Mark Marshall, rumoured Southend target at one time wideboy Ricky Holmes, and ten goal S24 player-to-watch, the former Shrimpers trialist Izale McLeod, who Luggy turned down last November!

Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: “They have some very dangerous and good players going forward and I think they’re a different Barnet side to the one last season. They have Mark Marshall who has really improved since he was with Swindon, the boy Holmes who is a local lad and is getting goals now and as well as him they have McLeod who is having a good season. When Izale was with us I don’t think he was really match fit to be honest. He didn’t play like he’s playing now and that’s obviously a shame from our point of view. He’s definitely one we will need to keep an eye on and we will also have to make changes to our defence again which is a worry.”

Fair enough Luggs, but anthing less than three points to keep the pressure on Crawley Town at the top, they play Dagenham & redbridge at home so must be favourites there, will be seen as a set back.

However, it should be a strong Southend side that takes to the Underhill pitch tonight, that may include loanee shot stopper from West Brom Luke Daniels, now that the bouts of throwing up everywhere sees to have stopped!

Sturrock said: “We’ve had a few players suffering from sickness and diarrhea and will take stock of the situation before naming the team."

Sanchez: Side lacked finishing touch

Sanchez: 'We have got to beat teams like Hereford to get away from the bottom.'

Meanwhile, Barnet boss Lawrie Sanchez has to get over the 1-0 defeat at Hereford beore he focuses on the Shrimpers.

The former Fulham boss believed his side created the better opportunities despite the loss that saw the two sides swap places at the bottom end of League Two.

Sanchez told the PA: "I am disappointed because I thought we had more chances than Hereford. But we gave away a corner and their lad (Elder) has got in front of one of our defenders, but even then we had a chance to clear it on the line but it went in. So I am disappointed that we haven't got something from the game because we had more efforts on goal. We have got to beat teams like Hereford to get away from the bottom which we are now in."
