Sturrock: New Shrimpers boss

Sturrock: 'Hopefully we can come out on top again'

You could say that on bail winger Ryan Hall has other things on his mind with a return to court for sentencing on the affray charge that has shocked the Shrimpers faithful.

However, that hasn't stopped him putting in some terrific performances that have got him noticed enough to make the Football League team of the week after the away draw with Torquay.

Even so, in the following 2-1 victory over bottom of the table Barnet his boss Paul Sturrock, in writing his weekly Echo column, paid due attention to both sides of Ryan's exciting talent.

Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: "We will need our front players to be bright and I thought they were for the opening 30 minutes against Barnet. Ryan Hall in particular did well but then he started trying to do his fancy dan stuff which wasn't needed. Barnet hit the post after he tried a flick which didn't come off and you have to make the opposition work hard for their chances, not just give them away by trying things like that."

Then again, the former Crystal Palace youth still opened the scoring, and the other players that came into the side at such short notice also showed the superb team spirit Luggy has built up in since the summer.

Sturrock concluded: "Ryan scored a good goal though and Miguel Comminges came in to the team and did well in a position he hadn't played before. Lee Sawyer looked lively and I'm sure he will be a good player for us. Louie Soares worked hard as well but it was hard for the lads who came in because they hadn't played much football. They might be called upon again tomorrow and hopefully we can come out on top again."

And so say all of us.
