Sturrock: New Shrimpers boss

Paul Sturrock: Manager of the Month for September 2011

Blues boss Paul Sturrock has been named the fourth tier's Manger of the Month for September.

Luggy guided his side to four wins, one draw and one defeat in the month, including impressive victories over Rotherham United and Shrewsbury Town, which saw 13 points picked up on the trot, no goals conceded from the last four league games, and sitting at the top of League Two.

Not a bad month's work!

Sturrock did enough to beat off Shrewsbury boss Graham Turner, Swindon Town manager Paolo Di Canio and AFC Wimbledon top man Terry Brown to pick up the gong.

Now, no talk of curses please, three points against Crewe Luggs and the lads just to disprove it!

Carlton: Makes homecoming

Danny Carlton: Player of the Month September 2011

However, in form midfield loanee from Swindon Michael Timlin was not able to make it a Shrimpers double, losing out to Morecambe striker Danny Carlton for the Player of the Month award, a rare case of Shrimps seeing off the Shrimper!

Carlton scored five goals in the month, including a stunning hat-trick in the 6-0 hammering of the creepies, and let's face it, he deserves the award just for that.

Also shortlisted were; Matt Ritchie (Swindon Town) and Tyrone Barnett (Crawley Town).
