Sturrock: New Shrimpers boss

Blues boss Paul Sturrock faces a defensive crisis at Torquay

It would have been good news to Shrimpers manager Paul Sturrock that he can still sign players despite HMRC deciding to threaten us once again to recover a late £30k.

And he may have to get someone in sharpish.

Reports coming out of Roots Hall have Luggy struggling with injuries to the whole of the back four including Graham Coughlin who was on the bench, though the Blues boss will not name the names as he struggles with getting them fit for the day.

However, he has confirmed that striker Harry Crawford, who regularly warms the subs bench, is definitly out with an ankle problem.

Could make the selection interesting for the next two games over three days at Torquay and home to Barnet.

Will Johnny Herd return at left-back, Kane Ferdinad move to centre-half, starts at last for Lee Sawyer and Miguel Comminges, who can also play at the back, we shall see?

Blimey, there's even a rumour that we might have to bring back Luke Prosser from Rushden & Diamonds!

Good luck with those injuries Luggy!

Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: "We have a number of injury concerns and it's far from ideal. I don't want to say who has knocks but at least four players will be having late fitness checks. We may well have to get people in on loan and I have been looking high and low to see who is available. However, we won't be rushed into making any panic signings and we will wait to make sure we get the right kind of player."
