Sturrock: 'It was important to have won it and opened up a gap'
It was all over in the first half-hour really, by then the Shrimpers were two up and it became a stroll after the break, with a comical own goal and a daft sending off, Clayton McDonald earning two yellow cards, bringing a smile to the faces of the Roots Hall faithful.
Blues boss Paul Sturrock could only be overjoyed at a result like this that took
Sturrock said after the game: "I'm delighted that we are back on the rails again after the sticky patch that we have been on in recent weeks. We could have had more chances but we got in their faces and that made the difference. It was great to see us looking like our old selves again and we definitely had the confidence back again. The second half was a non-event after the red card and the own-goal, but this was our game in hand and it was important to have won it and opened up a gap."
And we've certainly done that, roll on the Cobblers next Saturday.
