Sturrock: New Shrimpers boss

Sturrock: 'There's been a couple of misses there which shouldn't have happened'

Expect striker Barry Corr to return as Blues boss Paul Sturrock expects his side to be more clinical in their finishing against bottom-of-the-table Morecambe as well as deciding on the correct formation for the match.

Luggy told www.southendunited.co.uk: "We can look at the defence and see what's happened but we always need to look to the front because there have also been a couple of misses there which shouldn't have happened. My heart and head had two systems for the game at Northampton but I'm on a learning curve as well at the moment and I'm beating myself about things too so I need to decide what's best for Saturday"

However, Sturrock is not being fooled by the Shrimps lowly league position as the Southend manager knows their boss Mcllroy and is well aware they have a good side which will be fired up on the day.

Luggy concluded: "I'm very confident they will soon start to climb up the league but hopefully not from three points from us."

McIlroy: Looking to bolster his ranks

McIlroy: 'That is the character we need to show'

Meanwhile, Shrimps boss Sammy Mcllroy saw some encouraging signs in the 1-1 draw at home to Chesterfield last Saturday, where they only lost points to a very late equaliser, and it's worth remembering Morecame failed to win in the first six matches last season but ended up in the play-offs!

McIlroy told www.morecambefc.com: "Against a very good Chesterfield team, we played some great stuff in the first half and then did everything we could not to concede when they had a good spell in the second. Players were putting their bodies on the line and throwing themselves in front of everything and that is the character we need to show."

And Sammy goes on to focus particular with the game this weekend at Roots Hall.

Mcllroy continues: "We are going there to win like we do every game but we all know we need three points as soon as poosible to calm the nerves. We have had the lead in quite a few games this year and let it slip and I am expecting more now because we have the experience in our squad to do better and see the games through."
