Split Sawyer remains at the Bridge

The teenage midfielder is now back at Stamford Bridge after enjoying a three-month loan spell with the Blues earlier on this season and is bracing himself for a strange 90 minutes.

Sawyer made 13 appearances while at Roots Hall between August and November and produced some impressive displays in the centre of the park.

Speaking to the official site he said: "It's a bit of a weird one for me to think about because I was down there at Southend this season and then they got drawn to play against Chelsea. I spoke to Anthony Grant after the draw and he was buzzing to play in the game. I'm excited about seeing the game but it's not the same as playing. I couldn't have played even if I was still at Southend though because I wasn't allowed to play in the cup. The move to Southend gave me the chance to prove myself. I was happy about the way I played and I got that confidence from the thought that I could play league football as well. It was a good time and I feel I learned a lot down there. It will be great to see all the lads again."

So unlike Harding we don't seem to be getting a positive sign from young Lee that he'll be rejoining the Blues of South-East Essex.

Even with the signing of Christophe Macca remains only a yellow short of another suspension and a bigger squad will not go amiss.

Plus he's a bloody good player!
