Spencer: 'We got our reward for never giving up'

21-year-old striker Scott Spencer, the third Scotty now in the squad, was a happy man after his fourth appearance as a Shrimper substitute produced another goal, his second overall.

Despite calls for him to be in at the start, his intellegent running off the ball and overall fight has impressed the Roots Hall faithful, Spencer will just follow orders and continue to try and catch Tilly's eye.

Scott spoke to www.echo-news.co.uk: "The gaffer is the gaffer for a reason and he knows best what to do. I'm just happy that he gave me a half this time and that we were able to get back into the game in the second half. We never gave up and in the end we got our reward for that."

As for the actual goal in the 85th minute that gave the Shrimpers the momentum they needed to go on and grab a sensational draw with just a minute to go. The former Everton trainee was in no doubt who scored, and it was legal despite some tepid Swindon protests!

Scott continued: "They all count and it was definitely my goal, despite what anyone else may say. It also definitely crossed the line, I saw it and so did the linesman. That's why I started celebrating before anyone else!"
