Southend United's Ryan Hall gets bail; can play at Morecambe!

Hall: Received a 20-week prison sentence
Ryan Hall: Will play in the Shrimpers next two games at least!

This is incredible news; Southend United winger Ryan Hall has only had to endure one night at her Majesty's Pleasure as this morning Judge Christopher Mitchell in closed chambers at Basildon Crown Court released the player pending an appeal on the original length of sentence.

Kudos to Ryan's solicitors and Shrimpers supremo Ron Martin who travelled to Chelmsford Prison to greet him on his release where arrangements have been made to whisk Ryan up to the team hotel in Morecambe where he will be available for Saturday's game against the Shrimps!

The 23-year-old will re-appear at Basildon on Thursday, March 10th for the appeal against the severity of the sentence handed down Thursday at Southend Magistrate Court and originally refused bail there.

Whatever your opinions on Hall being allowed to leave prison, and personally it did seem a little excessive seeing as Ryan was provoked, had pleaded guilty, he had a place of work, and finally what some offenders get away with, a few hundred hours of keeping the streets of Southend clean would teach him to behave, this is good news for the side as they try and keep there amazing run just off the play-off positions going.

Ryan will also be able to face Gillingham at Roots Hall next Tuesday but whether he can line-up in the big match against Tilly's Lincoln City the following Saturday we are in the hands of Thursday's judge, though with the decision of the wise Judge Mitchell the odds must have changed in Ryan's favour to a more permanent release.

Fingers and a few other things crossed!

A case then for dropping out poll, or at least changing the question, but will keep it the same for now; by Thursday Ryan could be back eating porridge, or we saw against Northampton that with all this hanging over him form could be affected:
