Southend United v Shrewsbury Town - Team News

Last updated : 12 April 2002 By Mark Wallis
Daniel Gay could return in goal.
Supporters will flock to Roots Hall for the final time this season on Saturday as Shrewsbury Town, in pursuit of a play-off place, provide Blues with their final home opposition of the campaign.

Southend manager Rob Newman will be boosted by the news that leading goalscorer Tes Bramble along with Tony Richards came through Wednesday afternoon's Reserve team clash at Brisbane Road unscathed. The pair both saw 45 minutes of action and could be doing a spot of bench-warming against the Shrews.

Newman could well stick to a similar line-up to the side that stole a goalless draw at Plymouth Argyle last weekend, although goalkeeper Darryl Flahavan, having once again refused to sign a new contract, could lose his place again to 19-year old stopper Daniel Gay. Damon Searle is expected to make a decision over his future next week.

Ian Selley is once again doubtful for inclusion, the midfielder is still suffering from a cracked rib.
Adam Wallace should be a substitute once more.

TLG PREDICTED LINE-UP:- Daniel Gay; Stephen Broad, Danny Kerrigan, David McSweeney, Leon Cort; Kevin Maher, Stuart Thurgood, Mark Beard, Damon Searle; Phil Whelan, Barrington Belgrave.
