Sturrock: New Shrimpers boss
Luggy still looking at possible loan targets

There has been no doubt with the Shrimpers faithful that Blues boss Paul Sturrock has needed to bring in a player or two to aid his depleted squad for a while, transfer embargos and not paying anyone's wages apart, this still seems to be the case.

And the legendary Echo source, who to be fair has been on a good run recently, has suddenly come up with Luggy's List!

The 'source' told www.echo-news.co.uk: "Paul has drawn up a list of targets and the club are doing their best to make it happen. He obviously isn't going to be able to sign all the players on the list, but he does hope to get a couple of them."

We certainly need someone to cover Blair Sturrock and top scorer Barry Corr up front, both injuries waiting to happen, and we are told there's a couple of Premier League youngsters as well as 'a striker who is currently out of favour at a top League One club'.

Interesting, especially as Luggy seemed against youth, and after promising an answer on Liverpool teenager Jason Banton before Gillingham, has still to reveal his decision.

Maybe as a left winger he was waiting to hear Ryan's verdict, and now the in form winger is free to see the season out will let Jason return to Merseyside after his training sessions with the first team.

Sturrock did tell www.skysports.com: "There's plenty of games left to get the results we need. I'm not giving up in any way, but I do feel we need a freshness to the squad, a vitality, a hunger. The players merit me trying to get the players in that could give us a push towards the play-offs. I went down the route of 18/19-year-olds with German and the boy Jarvis. It's a lot to ask of people that age to come into the hustle and bustle of what's out there. It's something I need to have a real think about."

Fair enough, and the League One player? More promising, but can we afford him?

I would like to believe that side of things has been sorted out, CEO Tara Brady has insisted money is available for loan signings, and losing Matt Peterson's wages would have helped.

I just hope it isn't a feel good story leaked by the club in the eventuality Ryan's sentence reduction application went pear shaped.

As ever with these things, we will see.
