Timlin: Southend loan move

Michael Timlin; returning to be a Robin

Well, he is their player, but even so, after only a week on from allowing him to stay a further month, League One Swindon Town have asked for him back!

It seems The Wiltshire Robins boss Danny Wilson needs him in his depleted squad making the long trip to Plymouth in the FA Cup this weekend.

Midfielder Timlin scored one goal, a cracking free-kick at Hereford, in eight appearances and had a classy left foot which will be missed, so good in fact Blues boss Paul Sturrock overlooked Johnny Herd at left-back at Cheltenham Tuesday evening and played Michael there instead!

Whatever Luggy might say about Captain Craig being fit for out FA Cup tie at Macclesfield the midfield trio of Simpson, Grant and Timlin played the best football in the centre I've seen this season during the Shrimpers 1-0 win over Rotherham, and with Anthont Grant only a yellow away from a one-match ban, he will be badly missed.

Sturrock confirmed on www.southendunited.co.uk: "We'd have liked to have kept Michael until the end of his loan but he's a Swindon player and they need him. Craig Easton should be in our thinking for the weekend after his injury so that softens the blow somewhat."
