SNOW WATCH UPDATE: Club offering tickets for a tenner! No League Transfer Deadline Extention!

Last updated : 02 February 2009 By Shrimpers24
With the snow moving north and rain forecast to clear the pitch of what's left the official site was still announcing no inspection 'at this moment in time'.

In fact the club have announced Ten Pound tickets for Adults as a promotion to get Shrimpers to buy using their mobile phone, however it's upset some season card holders. Read about it here:

Several matches in the London area have already been called off, including Arsenal at the Emirates, Southend were expected to follow.

Biggest snowfall in the UK for 18 years! I still wouldn't be packing my thermals if I was an Scunny fan at the moment!

Whatever the improvements may happen on the pitch conditions have to be taken into account for the supporters home and away.

Both teams come off a weekend win though the league table would see the two sides harbouring different ambitions at the moment.

However, the inclusion of new loan signing from Spurs, the 6ft 4 Dorian Dervite, enjoyed an assured debut making the Blues defense look safer than it ahs for weeks while bringing out a man-of-the-match peformance from fellow central defender Peter Clarke. He even made the pass that led to Freedman's winning goal!

"I'm happy with my first game. It was quite physical but I like that side of the English game and I am happy we have won and not let in any goals. I am here to play games and get more used to English football. Southend are a good team so I am happy to be here and hopefully we can keep on doing well."

Southend midfielder Alan McCormack did suffer a suspected broken nose towards the end of Saturday's 1-0 win over Bristol Rovers and was forced to come off in the closing stages.

Blues boss Steve Tilson said it was too early to say whether Macca would be fit for Tuesday: "It looks as though it's broken but we need to give it more time before we decide what to do."

So on to the transfer window, now confirmed to be closing at 17.00 Monday for all Football League clubs. (Different for the Premiership of course!)

It was so close to Shrimpers having a double debut being made against the Pirates with the Southend Evening Echo reporting that Leeds striker Tresor Kandol was also on his way but the deal fell through because we were only willing to take the striker on loan for a month.

The forward was keen on signing for the Blues but Leeds United would not allow him out for just four weeks and the 26-year-old therefore ended up signing for Charlton Athletic who were prepared to sign him for the rest of the season.

Kandol has previously played locally for Thurrock and made his Charlton debut in their 2-1 defeat at Sheffield United on Saturday.

Oh well, it would have probably led to Dougie missing out!

So anybody else? What happened to Borrowdale from QPR?

TLG will keep it's eye on the deadline, and the weather!
