The television giants confirmed earlier in the week that they would be showing United's Carling Cup First Round tie with Southampton at Roots Hall on Monday, 22nd August live on their Sky Sports channel, but it has today been revealed a return trip has already been booked.

With England entertaining Austria in a crucial World Cup Qualifier on Saturday, 8th October, the clash with Forest will be broadcast on Sunday, 9th October, kicking-off at 4pm.

The match will be the ninth time in three season's United have plied their trade under the watchful eye of Sky cameras, however not since August 1997, a 1-0 Division Two defeat at Luton Town, has a Shrimpers League game been shown live, with the last at Roots Hall the 1-1 Division One draw with Birmingham City in December 1996.

It is also the second successive home League clash with Nottingham Forest to be screened on television. On Sunday 15th August 1993, ITV’s ‘The Big Match’ programme featured a 1-1 draw with the relegated outfit in what was the first game the visitors played after the departure of legendary boss Brain Clough. Stan Collymore, who had just completed a £3.75 million switch to Forest, was injured and did not play against the Seasiders.

Meanwhile, the Shrimpers' August trip to Scunthorpe United has been moved to a Friday night. Blues' away followers have been dealt some of the treatment issued to opposition club's away fans as the 27th August game at Glanford Park moves to Friday 26th August, with kick-off at 7:30 p.m.
