Around two weeks ago, Steve Tilson explained how he was trying to sign an experienced striker, who had scored many goals at League Two level and would require a large fee. However, having heard nothing of the transfer for the last fortnight, everything seemed dead – that was until Blues boss Tilson spoke out today.

Tilson told the clubs official website "Talks are still ongoing, he has a lot of sides that want him and realistically I don’t know if we will sign him," Tilson said about the striker. "He’s got a decent price tag around his neck and he has a good goalscoring record - I’m still not going to name the target though."

In a later part of the interview, Tilson also explained how, despite being in talks with a number of players, he didn’t think the Blues would sign anyone before the pre-season was well underway "I’m in talks with a lot of players but they are weighing up their options, so I don’t honestly think we’ll have anybody in until the pre-season has begun. But we still have a month left until the start of the season and as long as we get them in a week or two before then, everything should be ok."

On another note, Steve Tilson and his troops will be back for pre-season training and he took time out to explain the sort of procedures the boys in blue would be doing. The Basildon born manager said "Pre-season will be very similar to last year – we will do all our morning work at Gloucester Park, things like running up hills and trap work. In the Afternoon we will be going to the Kingswood Club to do things like Boxing, Aerobics, Weights, Swimming and circuits – there’s nothing worse as a player to do non-stop running so we will try to make things as enjoyable as possible."
