It was a good spot kick, even if Granty looked as if he just fell over to get it, but in the end it didn't matter, the Shrimpers fell to their first away loss of the year.

And it was the Essex boys awful defending from set pieces that finished them off and 31-year-old centre-back Chris Barker accepte his part in the defeat.

Barker told www.echo-news.co.uk: "I'm not sure if the free-kick should have been given; I'll let the TV replays decide that, but I should still have done better from the delivery which followed. Even if I was feeling aggrieved, I'm old enough and experienced to understand you have to mark from a set piece and it was my man who scored, so I'm very disappointed by that."
