Kane Ferdinand: Greatly missed in a Shrimpers shirt

The main injury concern for Blues boss Paul Sturrock for the weekend's League Two clash with Steve Tilson's Imps remains influential midfielder Kane Ferdinand, will he back in the side or not?

The 18-year-old youngster did train the day before the Gillingham 2-2 draw, yet was reported as still feeling a slight soreness in the ankle injury that forcrd him to miss that game and three weeks before that.

As the Shrimpers faithful await news that he will sign his first pro contract with the club before the end of March, or sadly more likely not, he could still make a big difference to the matches that have to be played in that time, starting with the vital clash against Lincoln City Saturday afternoon at Sincil Bank.

Luggy told www.echo-news.co.uk: "Kane trained Monday and we will have to see how his ankle reacts to that. Hopefully he will be fine because when he plays you can see that the defence has more solid protection ahead of them."

Striker Blair Sturrock, who received four stitches for the mugging he received from Gills Garry Richards on Tuesday is fit to start.

As for centre-back Matt Phillips and the continuing saga of his groin and the other creaking parts of his body, nothing, we have to suppose we've given up the poor bloke!
