Shrimpers set to make changes for Stockport

Blues assistant boss Paul Brush has been hinting to the official site that changes are afoot to the Southend side to play Stockport Saturday afternoon.

Brushy told Blues Player: "It's not been the best week's sleep I have had. It's been frustrating in recent games, but we have to look forward to the next match now. We need to move on and start playing better than we are at the moment, and if we do that, then these recent results become a distant memory."

He accepted chances have been few and far between: "We haven't been as creative as we need to be, especially in midfield. There might be one or two changes but we won't be saying who. We have players who are frustrated and fresh after what will be three games in a week and if they show the right kind of attitude in training then they will certainly come into consideration."

Not that T&B can do a great deal with such a small squad, even so, the majority of Shrimpers who witnessed both recent defeats will be expecting some reaction from the Blues management with the starting line-up.

Continues to enjoy the sunshine back at Sunderland

As predicted Sunderland loanee centre-half Jean-Yves M'Voto is to remain on Wearside while treatment continues on his hip injury.

That will make three games out for the Frenchman, who will probably miss next Tuesday's JPT trip to MK Dons as well.

The good news is he should be allowed to return to Roots Hall sometime next week allowing him to be included in the squad for next Friday's evening game with Southampton.

Damian Scannell

Will Tilly take a chance with Damien from the start?

The other absentee from the Tuesday defeat at Brentford was winger Damien Scannell, and he's recovered from his ankle injury and is available for selection for the League One game at Edgeley Park.

It may be a gamble for him to start so soon but something needs to be done and this and other possible Blues positional changes will be discussed in the S24 Preview up soon.
