Nathaniel Jarvis; yet to start for the Shrimpers

After six substitute appearances for Southend and the odd reserve game, Nathaniel Jarvis has still to make a starting debut for the first team and his month deal will expire after Saturday's match at Bury.

To be honest we haven't seen enough of the youngster, there's no doubting Nathaniel has pace, to be sure if it's worth the gamble of him saying on, however with Blues boss Paul Sturrock saying that he's gone over budget as he searches for new players Jarvis would seem surplus to requirements.

The club needs some experience up front if they can find it.

Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: "I need to have a chat with Nathan and see how he feels but I think he's done well for someone of his age. He's very young but he's managed to get a chance for himself in virtually all of the games he's had. If he had taken a couple of them we could all be feeling a little bit better about ourselves right now but after I've spoken to him I will have to weigh up my options and decide what's best for the football club."
