Shrimpers insist second winding-up order is sorted: 'Funds in place to meet the liabilty'

By westfield shrimper
Thursday, 8th July 2010
The High Court Thursday was reminded by Her Majesty's taxman that there was a second petition in place to close us down next week, but it's 'no worries' according to the club.

During the Shrimpers twenty-first escape from the taxman's axe this morning, (maybe that's an exaggeration, but it feels like it), HMRC kindly reminded Judge Newey that the club faced another winding up petition next week, this one from Charterhouse Commercial Finance over a £140,000 debt.

After getting away with it once again, well another reprive with Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs having to wait until the second of August, the club made a statement explaining how to-day was all the taxman's fault but also that there wouldn't be a problem regarding the financial company's loan being repaid.

The statement said: "With regards to Charterhouse Commercial Finances' petiton funds are in place to meet that liabilty'.

So there you go, relax, and one day the club might have paid all their debts, Paul Sturrock will sign his three-year contract, and all those players that are signing post-embargo contracts will be seen in a Shrimpers shirt playing a league game, and even getting paid for it.

And then we woke up.

Only joking.
