It's Orient who take the game 4-3 on penalties after extra-time!
Lee Butcher: I really don't like this bloke!
Just when you thought losing to Orient was a thing of the past, this happens!
Borient down to 10 men on the hour, 24 goal attempts to 9(!), a series of terrific saves by O's keeper Lee Butcher, penalties; we were out of the Carling Cup at the first attempt!
And we may have lost two central defenders for a while, one before the game was skipper Chris Barker who has torn his groin and will be out for between 2 to 3 weeks.
However, last season's sick note Mark Phillips was taken off at half-time after 'something went pop in his groin'. Oh er.
Lucky we've got all those players!
Blues boss Paul Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: “Mark felt something pop and had to come off. It's unfortunate because he had been playing very well but he just doesn't seem able to play four or five games in a row. We don't know how serious it is just yet but with Barks already out for at least two or three weeks with a grade one tear of his groin we don't want to be losing Mark for a long period of time either.”
As for the injured player himself, any news on the injury?
