Shrimpers midfielders George Smith and Alex Woodyard have joined Conference South side Farnborough on loan initially for a month.

Of  two 18-year olds it's Woodyard who has tasted league action when he made his debut in the defeat at Burton Albion last December and has gone on to make two further appearances.

Alex will be unavailable this weekend as he's on duty with the Republic of Ireland Under-19s.

Meanwhile, young George has been on loan at Ryman Premier Division team Great Wakering Rovers, but has yet to turn out for the senior side.

Of the other young Shrimper loanees, Merrick James-Lewis is still with Braintree Town while George Artemi and James Stevens are both applying their trade on laon with the Rovers of Great Wakering, where grabbing the pair was considered a 'massive coup'. Blimey!
