Bilel Mohsni; possibilty he may not play again this season

Influential centre-back Bilel Mohsni injured both tendons and ligaments in his left ankle in the defeat to Shrewsbury Town at Roots Hall on Saturday.

And despite an initial X-ray showing no fracture to the bone, an MRI scan taken on Monday revealed the true seriousness of the injury.

Physio Ben Clarkson told www.southendunited.co.uk: "Bilel will be out for a minimum of six to eight weeks. The specialist will review it after six weeks to see if he is ready to step up his return or if he will requires more rehab. Although it is the same ankle that Bilel injured in December it is actually different tendons and ligaments he has injured this time."

Wilf of the west stand said as Bilel was carried off in front of us: 'There goes our play-off hopes being carried off on that stretcher.'

Let's hope the old sage is not proved correct.
