Roots Hall: Match postponed

Roots Hall in all it's glory; but maybe a touch more sleet around Saturday

It's amazing what a win does, especially one as good as a 2-0 victory away to play-off challlangers Cheltenham Town, and the manner of the way they did it

This was no fluke.

However, as England start the vital test match against Australia in Perth, having had a great victory and knowing another will see them enter the history of the game, three points in football, deserved or not, need to be followed up with another dominating performance.

Geez, Ashes cricket and League Two football in one paragraph, we don't dumb down here at S24.

At the end of the day, we are still 17th in a 26-team league, and only four points from the bottom two.

Wycombe Wanderers, currently in 6th place, will be a tough test.

Now I've cheered you up, and we'll wait for the preview to get down to the nitty gritty, here's some concerns about Saturday's game.

Will it get played first of all?

The forecast wasn't great, and Tuesday evening's FA Youth Cup tie was called off, but club officials have said they are 'extremely confident' that the game will go ahead and that no pitch inspection is even planned!

Hope they're not the same spokemen that said Tommy Widdrington wasn't sacked!

Then there's the team Luggy will put out.

The return of centre back Bilel Moshni and misfielder Anthony Grant were vital factors in the Robins beating, yet now we're told they could both be out along with another man in the middle, Josh Simpson!

Simmo came off at half-time at the Abbey Business Stadium while Mohsni limped off in the 82nd minute, Granty it seems has a back injury.

Blues boss Paul Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: "They could be bad injuries. Bilel is going for a scan and Josh's injury could be a bad one as well so we're just waiting for more news. Anthony Grant also picked up a back problem quite early on last night and it would be a real blow if all three were to miss the match against Wycombe."

'A real blow' Luggs, now that is an understatement!

Let's hope we have a similar side starting at Roots Hall Saturday afternoon to the one that blew Cheltenham away and that the pitch can take a stud without breaking any ankles, and, of course, the Shrimpers continue to rise up the table, even without an assistant manager.

For the injuries, we wait and see, for the weekend weather:
