Anthony Grant Meet the blues day

Granty; will not be live on Sky after all

Limping off after 70 minutes of the Swindon game, Anthony Grant, arguably Southend's most improved player this season, was a victim of the still weather affected part of the Roots Hall pitch which nearly saw the match with the Robins called off before referee Phillips relented after long discussions with both the managers involved.

Having gone for the obligatory MRI scan it's been confirmed that Grant badly damaged his ligaments and could be out for six to eight weeks.

The club are seeking further medical advice and the midfielder will visit a specialist on Thursday, but he'll be certain to miss next Monday's match with Essex rivals Colchester and it could be well into March before we see him again.

O'Keefe; any chance of a call-up for Colchester have been dashed

And if Blues boss Steve Tilson was thinking of including young Stuart O'Keefe, S24's best Shrimper at Millwall even though he only came on at half-time, that's not going to happen after news that's he's got a suspected hernia.

Stuart will alao see a specialist this week but will certainly join Dranty out for the Essex derby.

As loanees Pat Baldwin and Scott Vernon, including the suspended Macca, cannot play in the game on February 8, once again the problem of team selection will give Tilly another selection headache.

There's even rumours of a suspected flu bug doing the rounds at Roots Hall!

S24 believes emergency loans are available from the day of the game, however if there are no further signings it could be one of the more attacking line-ups for an away game that Tilly has ever selected with Jean-Francois Christophe and the Moose starting in the centre of midfield while Scannell and Laurent would be expected to do more work dropping back than usual.
