Selley Training With Blues

Ian Selley to return to Roots Hall?
Selley, who impressed the Roots Hall crowd with some impressive engine room performances during the latter stages of last season looked likely to join the Shrimpers permantely until Don's boss Terry Burton lost his job, but the former Arsenal man, who had a previously unsuccessful spell at Roots Hall in late 1996, isn't training with Rob Newman's men for no reason, and it seems that another loan deal, although for just how long is unclear, will be struck up for the forthcoming season.

Also back in training with Blues is striker Daniel Webb. Webb, who turned 19 last week was on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion for the second half of last season, but when Peter Taylor left the Second Division Champions at the end of the season Webb found himself unwanted on the South Coast and had no option but to return to the mouth of the Thames.

Webb has turned down a one year contract extension offered to him by Newman, but the frontman is too young to leave the Club on a Bosman-style free transfer so for the time being he remains a United player. Other notable names to report in for pre-season traing ahead of Friday's opening pre-season fixture with Burnham Ramblers are three trialists; Portugese winger Paulo Martins, Frome Town striker Mark Salter and 16-year old Thailand goalkeeper Jamie Waite.

Finally, other man found on Boots & Laces today was left back Neil Jenkins, released by Wimbledon last month just two months after representing England at Under 20 level against Finland.
