See what could be a top of the table clash for only a fiver!

After the fantastic atmosphere that saw the Shrimpers go top of League Two against Shrewsbury last Friday evening in front of the biggest gate of the season, breaking 6,000 for the first time this campaign, (6,394 to be exact with around 240 travelling Shrews), and Roots Hall Towers have decided they want to try and beat even reach that figure.

So, against the club presently third in the table, the Lancashire lads of Morecambe FC, the next home game on Saturday, October 15th, kick-off 15.00, all tickets, yes, adults, concessions and kids, will go on sale at five pounds only anywhere in the ground.

Though I'm not sure if that includes the away sections for any Shrimps supporters planning to travel on the day, call the Blues Box Office, number below.

Boss Paul Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk: "The support on Friday was excellent and it definitely made a difference to the side. It's great that the club are able to offer tickets for just £5 for the Morecambe game and hopefully we will get an even biggger gate than  on Friday."

The official site has tweeted: 'Charlton did a similar offer recently and added 8,000 fans onto average crowd. Let's fill Roots Hall everyone! Tell your friends and family.'

Tickets are available now from the Blues Box Office on 08444 77 00 77 or by visiting Roots Hall in person.

Not bad, even season card holders should be able to forgive the powers-that-be for this one, we want a friday night carnival repeated on a Saturday afternoon with the results to match.

No problems with us at S24 then, let's fill the ground, might be interesting what's written on the message boards though, or the twitterverse, and here's the first.

Kyle Williams was retweeted by SUFC Roots Hall and said: 'Await the backlash from angry SC holders, as the average game price over the year reduces by 20 pence.'

resonded with: 'But the SC price still works out cheaper and guarantees seat for all games.'

shrimpergarry on www.shrimperzone.com argued: 'Not sure how they work those maths out. A full cost season ticket is £390, gives you 23 home games = £16.91 per game (i.e. a lot more than a fiver!)

Even if you bought an adult+child in the family stand at the cheap rate (£350) it's still £7.61 per person per game.

They've now responded by saying that 22 games at £21 and 1 at £5 = £467 - that's why it's cheaper!!!

Still think we'd have them under trades descriptions for saying everyone is paying a fiver for this game, if you're a season ticket holder you've already paid more.'
