Sean Clohessy 'jumped at the chance to be a Shrimper as soon as I knew it was possible'

Blues assistant boss Tommy Widdrington rated Sean highly at Salisbury City

23-year-old right-back Sean Clohessey was Shrimpers boss Paul Sturrock's eighth and latest signing, (yesterday; but now over taken by keeper Glenn Morris today!), when he put pen to paper to a two-year pre-contract agreement.

And having spent the last two seasons with Salisbury City in the Blue Square Premier with Tommy Widdrington as his manager, Sean was just about to start the season with Bath City when he decided to rejoin his former boss and take his place back in the Football League for the first time since he left Gillingham.

Clohessy told www.echo-news.co.uk: "I'm really excited to have made the move and I jumped at the chance as soon as I knew it was possible. Playing league football is completely different to playing non-league and I'm delighted by the move."

Well, maybe not that excited, but good to see him at the club, and let's hope the newly elected Football League board member Ron Martin repays the loans, and Sean actually ends up staying along with the management team and the other new players.
