Vernon: 'I've not spoken to Boothroyd since I joined Southend'
On loan from Essex rival ColU striker Scott Vernon has grabbed 4 goals in 15 appearances, yet has hardly set Roots Hall alight.
However, when he returns to his first club Oldham Athletic on Saturday, where he played 74 league games scoring 20 times, he will be trying to end the season on a high for Southend in their final attempt to try and escape the dreaded drop.
Vernon told www.echo-news.co.uk: "It's always the first match I look for when the fixtures come out because Oldham is where it all started for me. I first joined when I was 15 and I will always be grateful for the chance they gave me. We know (though) we need to win every match we have left and we will continue to give our all for each other, the manager and the fans."
Meanwhile, it's all gone quiet on any talks with his parent club where he has two months left on his contract with the Framers.
Vernon spoke to BBC Essex: "Nothing's been said. I've not spoken to the manager (Boothroyd) since I joined Southend. Whether I will be speaking to him in the near future remains to be seen."
Doesn't look good there, and to be honest with his displays for the Shrimpers I wouldn't think Tilly will be pushing him into putting pen to paper.
Though he should be able to do a job in League Two his wages would probably be too high.
