Scannell swine flu scare

Damien Scannell could probably not think his week could get any worse.

Limping off after less than 25 minutes against Dagenham & Redbridge, his first game back after an ankle injury, he was told he hadn't fractured a bone but would have to go for an MRI scan.

The result of the scan showed he did have damaged tendons and ligaments and would not be able to play until at least the end of August.

That was the good news.

Damien has now been told by the Shrimpers medical staff that he's contracted swine flu and in line with government guidelines has been told to rest and remain at home to stop the disease spreading!

At least we can be the first club to come up with a song that has the words 'swine flu' in the lyrics.

Also gives us a good excuse if the result doesn't go our way in the season opener!
